About us

After spending our careers in the worlds of marketing, communications and design, we met at a local coworking space.

We worked on a few projects together for our individual clients and then decided to officially join forces in 2023.

From day 1 the vision was simple:

Help small businesses create and tell more interesting stories.

Technology is great in making our lives and businesses more efficient.

But it can’t build relationships.

It’s can’t join the dots between snippets of conversations that spark an idea for a super creative partnership project that grows your audience.

It can’t understand the quirks of your customers and community to write an awesome newsletter that sells more products.

That’s what we do for our clients.

Don’t just take our word for it – read other people’s words here >>>

  • As a coach, creative director, design and writer, Vari brings a huge variety of skills and experience to Friday Morning.

Having run her own small business for 15 years, she’s learned a thing or two about what works (and more importantly what doesn’t!) when it comes to balancing work and life.

    Some potentially interesting facts:

I was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and have called Australia home since 2007.

I live by the beach on the Mornington Peninsula with my two sons, Gabe and Noah and our adorable staffy, Stella.

I published my first book in 2023 called Seeds of Courage and am currently writing my first novel.

🧑‍🏫 Something my school report said that remains true today:
Vari likes to draw and colour-in. She likes to talk, which can sometimes distract other students.

  • Tom understands how businesses need to act and articulate to head in a desired direction.

He loves listening to business owners to unlock purpose and passion, and has a strong belief that team culture and brand communication are the key to connection, leading to personal and organisational growth.

He’s been crafting copy and language for brands since his first job as Editor of the University of West England Student Newspaper in 2007.

    Some potentially interesting facts:

I was born in Sussex, England and have called the Mornington Peninsula home since 2017.

I married an Australian and we have three girls; Isabela, Ettie and Maeve – our collective health and happiness – and that of our loved ones – is my why.

I co-founded road safety charity The White Bike Foundation and completed my first (and only to date) Full Ironman Triathlon in 2018

Why Friday Morning?

We know running a small business isn’t something you clock in and out of.

It can easily slide into a Monday–Friday, 9–5 with no paid overtime, annual leave or sick days.

When we started the business, we wanted to protect some time in our week and keep each other accountable. The deal was no meetings or calls during that time.

Tom: I took Wednesday afternoons off to spend with my youngest.

Vari: I took Friday mornings off for my favourite gym class.

Friday morning had a better ring to it, and less letters. Decision made!

We’ve asked clients over the years how they spend their Friday Mornings.

Here’s what they’ve told us:

  • It’s when I send invoices and reminders! People are nicer on a Friday!

  • It’s my day to take the kiddos to school.

  • I never know! It’s different every week!

  • It’s when I catch up with my friend for coffee.

  • I always bring in morning tea for the team.

  • It’s my day for an extra long walk with the dogs.

  • It’s when I pack the van for weekend markets.

We’d love to chat

Book in for a coffee and chat session. These sessions let us get to know each other a little more and see if we’re a good fit to help you.

Sessions typically take 30-45 mins.

They’re completely free and with zero obligation.

They can be online or at our office in Mornington, Victoria.
